Buy Beats or Free Instrumentals?

Buy Beats or Free Instrumentals?
By Dionte Laws

As an artist, one may feel that they don't need to buy beats for various reasons.

Here are some of the ones I've heard before:

"Not selling my mix-tape, why buy beats?"

 "I have an in-house producer."

 "Producers should give FREE BEATS!"

 "Those beats cost too much!"

If you're an artist, Especially an Underground or "Underdog" Artist, there is one harsh truth that you simply MUST come to terms with... NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR YOU ON LIL WAYNE'S BEAT.

Now I know what you're thinking. "Lil Wayne uses other People's beats all the time... " That's because, well, he's Lil Wayne & he's one of the special cases of people who can do that. I mean come on, let's be honest, name another artist who you would listen to rap over someone ELSES beat besides Wayne, Fab maybe, but that's about it.

Some people can, most people can't, I don't know why but that's how it goes. You have a much increased chance of grabbing & most importantly, KEEPING your listener's attention with COMPLETELY ORIGINAL work. Even if you aren't selling your body of work, it's still important to gain the attention of your listeners & "Potential Fans."

In-house producers or beat makers are a valuable tool for any artists to have. They provide a wide range of significant benefits. However, one can become to reliant on in-house producers & become stuck in a rut. Not necessarily saying they're creating bad music, but the excitement is gone because of a sort of "recycled sound." This issue can be resolved by simply, connecting with new producers. Even if you're not working directly with them, sometimes a new ear & perspective will send your imagination to great lengths.

In regards to free beats, I'll keep it short and simple. If you can't find a producer to give you a free beat, you're not looking hard enough. There are tons of producers willing to give beats away in order to establish new clients. Are you being a beggar & chooser?

Most producers give away free beats to people in order to gain interest from those people. Artists (most of which are not serious enough to invest in themselves) feel that those free beats should be fully customized & tailored to their specific needs...

You pay for Free... You Get Free Quality, Simple. This does not mean however, that you should give up your arm, lung & leg for a beat either. The price for lease licenses online range from anywhere between $15-$30 dollars with the average being around $20, Expect to spend that if you're looking for some quality production.

I hope this info was of some help to you. I would like to invite you to check out: http://www.InstrumentalHQ.com & download free beats today.

3 Reasons Why You Should Use Free Background Music for Videos

3 Reasons Why You Should Use Free Background Music for Videos 3 Reasons Why You Should Use Free Background Music for Videos
By Erick B Carlson
Let's face it, everyone who makes YouTube videos need background music or some kind of added audio effects. Most sites out there will charge you to use their music for your videos but there are some websites out there that allow users to use background music for free, without paying as long as the person who is making the video credits the producer's website.
Share The Love
Almost every producer or composer is going to want you to share their video or share their URL inside the description of the video you make. They want to get exposure just like you do and they have no problem letting you use the background music for your video as long you give proper credit. This is also a way of sharing the love online. It's almost like the way word of mouth used to be, except now, it's all about sharing digitally.
No Money Lost
Save your money, most of these producers don't want your money unless you plan on making money off of the video that you are posting. Now, if you plan on making money off the video you are posting then you should probably buy a license or a lease to the beat. Most videos people post to YouTube are not trying to sell anything anyways so why not use free background music for your videos instead of paying.
Networking
When you share a producer's work or do anything spectacular with their beat, they are going to want to connect with you. The great thing is that if they share your video or tell their audience about you, that's more views for you. Sharing is a great way of establishing networks online that help get your videos out there. The more networks you set up, the greater the amount of views and subscribers are going to come in. Unless your video goes viral (which most don't), you are going to need to promote your videos the old fashioned way, through word of mouth and sharing, and this is one great way to start doing that online.
It's quite possible that at some time, you are going to need background music for one of your YouTube videos or other similar projects. It makes since to use free background music vs paying for your music. You get to share the love to the producer, save your money, and establish networking connections.

How to Use Free Beats to Promote Your Beat Selling Website

How to Use Free Beats to Promote Your Website How to Use Free Beats to Promote Your Website

Giving away free beats sounds like you are just giving away money, but that is not necessarily true. Giving away a free beat is the same idea that makeup companies have when they give away free samples. It lets them use the product to test it out, use it in their everyday lives, and make a personal connection with it over time. The hopes are that the user will come back for more because they realize that they really enjoy using that product and want to use it full time. There are three things to remember when giving out free beats.
Get Their Email
If you are going to give away free beats, you should get something in return. It is very easy these days to get an email program that collects users email addresses and auto sends them emails once they have confirmed their subscription. This is a great way to collect people who are already in love with your product and stay in touch with them. Relationships build trust and trust builds sales. Trust is the number one key to get people to buy from you. Stay in touch with these free beat downloaders. You never know when one of them might turn into a purchaser.
Facebook Likes
One great step that I have found in promoting my site is through Facebook likes. Whenever a user likes your page on Facebook, it shows up on their status. That's free publicity just from a Facebook like. The trick is, whenever you send the email to the user with the free beat links In it, make that page a Facebook reveal tab. A Facebook reveal tab will only let users see the links if they like you Fan page. This is an easy way to get users to like your page without having to do anything but route them properly.
Making Sales
Getting client emails and Facebook likes are just a way of staying in contact with potential customers that already want you product. Getting them to trust you is the most important factor when selling beats. Make sure that you have a strong presence online and that you stay in contact with your people and send them emails regularly. Run specials and do contests to give your users interaction that will eventually build relationships. These relationships will turn into profit. Make sure that you put out new content on a regular basis and become an authority in your field.
